If you were a 90’s girl, you’d definitely have heard of Polly Pocket. I’m not sure if girls these days still get it for Christmas but back in the day, it was my favourite toy. And quite recently, the GlamPact by Glam-It! has taken me back to the times when I marvelled at the lights and moving ducklings in my old Polly Pocket.
The GlamPact was launched a few years ago in Hong Kong by beauty maven Jennifer Cheng, and it was only in the past few months that the compact had undergone a refreshing makeover. No longer black, the new GlamPact is now pretty in baby pink and has new individual makeup modules that you can select for your very own customisable GlamPact.
Sit tight for my Depend GelLack Review. You’ll want to read it.
Fans of gelish rejoice. I’ve been introduced to a safer and long-lasting alternative, known as the Depend GelLack, which you can do on your own in the comfort of your home.
I’ve never done gel manicures because of all the horror stories I’ve heard about having them removed after a few weeks. Your nails are thinned, dry and brittle and you can’t apply anything on them afterwards. However, the Depend GelLack kit and polishes go easy on your nails, so that you can have colour that doesn’t chip off.
I repeat, it doesn’t chip off. At all. Let’s take a moment to let that sink in for a while.
She’s got 23 million followers (and counting) on Instagram, is a major part of reality TV in the United States and has not even hit the big 2-0. You’ve probably seen her rocking turquiose ombre locks and crazy-length pointed talons, and most of all, you know her by the name of Kylie.
Most recently, the secret of her plump lips was made known – lip plumping fillers, no surprises there. Yet, millions of us out there are still coveting her beauty looks that know no boundaries of inspiration. And that is why I’ve compiled this Ultimate Kylie Jenner Beauty & Style Guide, so that you can get all the best tutorials, tips, tricks and product recommendations on one page. Bookmark this page (for I’ll be adding stuff time and again), enjoy the tutorials and don’t forget to share!

Kylie’s makeup artist also recommends just using lip balm and a lip liner close to your natural lip colour. A common favourite is the NARS Velvet Lip Liner, which you can get off Nordstrom here.

If you colour your hair often, you’ll want to make sure you have some conditioner to sooth your tresses. You can get the Caviar Repair RX – Instant Recovery Conditioner off Nordstrom here. Check out my guide on How to Get Healthy Hair the Easy Way, where I share my own secrets to healthy hair.
If you’re inspired by Kylie’s metallic glitter manicure that she’s got on fleek, these are some products that can help you achieve something very similar. To get the same effect, I recommend a light gold or champagne base, followed by gold glitter on top. The following tutorial by Tootsie Time is spot on too.

Kylie’s style is one that the media watches closely. And that’s why we know when she repeats her choice of clothing – just like the rest of us normal folks. If you’re a fan of laced up booties and distressed denim, here are some options:
I hope you’re all having a magnificent Monday. If you’re considering changing your look into something more colourful than usual and yet not overly dramatic, I filmed this tutorial to show you how you can create a rocker chic makeup look with nude glossy lips.
In this tutorial, I show you how you can contour the sides of your nose bridge using a shade from the same eyebrow palette from Heavy Rotation (read the review on the Powder Eyebrow & Nose Shadow here). You’ll also see how using a wet brush to apply eyeshadow is kind of like using an eye primer – it increases the intensity of the colour instantly. Here’s the list of products used:
Golden goddesses we are not but we can definitely put in some effort when it comes to maintaining a headful of healthy hair.
Caring for your tresses isn’t necessarily a chore, even if you’ve got waist-length hair. All the Rapunzels out there may use more shampoo than others but these five steps below can be applied to everyone regardless of hair length. The best part? They’re actually pretty basic and easy to follow.
1. Shampoo daily where necessary.
I know that not shampooing daily is kind of a trend right now but if you live near the equator like me – and Singapore is slated to be the hottest place on earth in 10 years, bless our poor souls – you’ll find that not washing your hair at least once every two days is going to give you an oily scalp. An oily scalp means that your pores are clogged with dirt and sebum, and new hair cannot grow to replace fallen ones. If this goes on for too long, you’ll start to find yourself balding.
2. Use a clarifying shampoo.
A clarifying or deep cleansing shampoo should be used at least once a week. Massage this as near to your scalp as possible. This will remove any dirt not washed away by your shampoo. I personally like the Giovanni Golden Wheat Deep Cleanse Shampoo, but if you can find another one that has mint in it, it really helps you to feel invigorated after a shower. That’s always a welcome in the summer!
3. Use a good conditioner.
I know I’ve always said I never had time for conditioners but after having my hair processed several times, hair oil alone is no longer sufficient. To maintain shine and strength in your hair, I highly recommended a good conditioner right after washing off your shampoo. You can check out the Alterna Caviar Repair RX Instant Recovery Conditioner on Nordstrom here.
As you’d probably have guessed by now, Mr. Ratatouille and I have recently moved out into our own apartment. We’ve just settled into our new home, which is a small cozy space that fits 6 people nicely, and that I am growing to love.
A home tells people about the person you are, so what better way to present yourself and open your hearts to others than to invite them over? In today’s Link Love blog entry, I’m sharing some great tips and tutorials on giving your home some added character, how you can maintain friendships well into your 30’s and a little career inspiration to boost your day.
If you’re not used to applying makeup on a daily basis but would like to try it, I made a video tutorial on how you can achieve this simple everyday look. It’s something that adds a little bit of colour to your skin but not too much, so that you don’t feel too overwhelmed when you’re just starting out. I know how scary it can be trying makeup out for the first time!
In this tutorial, there’s no contouring and all that fancy schmancy things that are reserved for the red carpet. I feature a simple Nude Smoky Eyeshadow Trio palette from Bourjois and the new Volume Glamour Effet Push Up mascara from the brand as well. Here’s the entire list of products used, in the order of application:
We all know that many chemicals are harmful. That’s why many beauty companies are changing their manufacturing processes to cut down on these chemicals, either completely or by substantial amounts.
I was lucky enough to get to try the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon from newly launched Spanish brand, Naturalium. The brand was founded in 2014 and only made its way to our humble shores this year. All of their products are made with no parabens, colourants and phthalates. In case you were wondering, parabens and colourants can cause cancer, while phthalates are known to affect reproductive systems in mice and humans.
Here’s a closer look at the Bath & Shower Gel in Melon.
It’s not often that you find a product that delivers what it promises to. And when it happens, you just wish it would never be discontinued. That’s what I currently feel towards the Aroma Bar Singapore range of products that I received one afternoon and haven’t stopped using since.
Founded in 2012 in Singapore by local aromatherapist Sarah C., Aroma Bar Singapore features products that are hand-blended and 100% natural. The best part is that they deliver results (or at least the ones I tried). Let’s take a look at the Rose Geranium Magnolia Extra Rich Body Butter.
The Rose Geranium Magnolia Extra Rich Body Butter (50ml, S$26.50) from Aroma Bar Singapore.
If you’ve ever wanted to feel as if you’re being pampered at a luxurious spa, while you’re at home and have some time to spare, apply this body butter after a relaxing shower. This product smells absolutely gorgeous (if smells can be gorgeous) and works great on targeted areas of your skin. Its consistency is more like a solid balm, so it might be a bit challenging to spread it all over your body. I recommend using this on areas such as your elbows, fingertips or cuticles, the heels of your feet and around the toes.
The ingredients in this body butter cannot be more natural either. Check it out.
If you’re reading this post, chances are you’ve shopped online before. What if I told you, you could earn some of that money back when you spend it on a new dress?
Mais oui, bien sûr.
If you frequent online fashion stores like ASOS, Zalora, Lazada and Shopbop; buy travel tickets or booked accommodation on Rail Europe, Expedia and Agoda; or even grab a coupon or two from Groupon, getting some of that money back will save you some serious cash over time and lessen your spending.
I was invited to give Shopback a try some weeks ago, and to summarise, I did get a percentage of my money spent back while shopping online. Shopback is a cashback site that pays you to shop with their partnered merchants – more than 500 of them. I used it to get something new for myself on Zalora and here’s a short tutorial (using Safari, with screenshots) for you, so you can see how it looks like before signing up.
