Review: The Skin Inc Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil

Skin Inc Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil

The Skin Inc Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil.

This full-sized (60ml) Skin Inc Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil came in my July 2013 Vanity Trove, and was such a great surprise! The recent troves hadn’t been meeting my expectations so this cleansing oil sort of saved the reputation of the monthly subscription box. The first thing that caught my eye about this product was the three different coloured layers in the bottle – pink at the bottom, yellow in the middle and colourless at the top. As the bottle is transparent, the colours turn out very clearly. To use it, you just have to shake the bottle to mix the three layers together, apply a small amount to your hands and massage it onto your face in a circular motion.

An introduction to the Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil written at the back of the bottle.

From Skin Inc‘s website, this cleanser contains the following benefits: “anti-oxidising, brightening, firming, hydrating, plumping, reducing pore size and repairing.” Did it do all those for me? I didn’t use it long enough to find out… because it broke me out! It works OK as a makeup remover but it definitely does not remove makeup around the eye area. So, I don’t recommend this as an all-over cleanser, unlike the Shu Uemura Ultime8, which I’ve been using ever since it was first launched. The Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil‘s saving grace is its sleek packaging, the pump bottle and the fact that it does not smell bad. In fact, I’m not even sure it has a smell, especially since it has no fragrance nor parabens. A closer look at its ingredient list shows no alcohol content as well (not including phenoxyethanol, which is an ingredient I’ve found my skin to not be sensitive to)!

Ingredient List

Glycerin, Mineral Oil, Polysorbate 80, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Aqua, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Lavandula Augustifolia (Lavender) Flower Extract, Cynara Scolymus (Artichoke) Leaf Extract, Prunus Yedoensis Leaf Extract, Saxifragra Sarmentosa Extract, Lavandula Augustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Butylene Glycol, Tocopherol, CI42090, CI45100 and Phenoxyethanol.

When first pumped onto my palms and then massaged on, this cleanser gives off a slight heating sensation. I’m on the fence on this one, because to me it’s a non-issue. As to whether I’ll purchase this in the future, probably not. I really wanted to like this cleanser (I go weak in the knees for anything pink) but sadly it doesn’t meet my expectations.

What about you? Have you tried the Skin Inc Pure Trinity Cleansing Oil and did it work for you?
