Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Lacquer in Opal

Makeup is like goodies to me. Whenever I receive something brand new, it manages to fill my life with some sort of magical fairy dust and rainbow unicorns. That’s why when the mailman delivered the new Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Lacquer, I couldn’t wait to give it a try! The shade I received was Opal, a shimmery shade that I’d been trying to find for quite some time!

Opal is a sheer, sparkling white, where the shimmer bits are both blue and purple. I remember how when I was young, I’d mix some silver paint into a small transparent bottle of water and watch how the shimmer glimmered in the light every time I shook the bottle. I couldn’t stop staring at it – the same with Opal.

I decided to use this shade as a finish for a dark base, OPI’s Eiffel for this Colour. The final effect is gorgeous!

It looks purple from some angles.

The shimmer also looks midnight blue from some angles.

That’s holographic heaven right there! Sometimes it catches my eye while I’m working at my desk, or when gesturing while talking, and immediately, this inter-galactic combination of sparkles just transfixes me – and everyone else who sees it.

The other 11 shades from the new nail lacquer range are:

  1. Snow Drop – true white
  2. Clementine – creamy orange with shimmer
  3. Cardinal – deep, crimson metallic
  4. Tomato – bright red with a hint of gold shimmer
  5. Pomegranate – sophisticated deep red
  6. Wisteria – blue and purple with silver shimmer
  7. Mother of Pearl – silver metallic with a hint of lilac glow
  8. Mica – charcoal with a touch of silvery shimmer
  9. Deep Ocean – deep metallic turquoise with a dash of gold shimmer
  10. Cinnamon – dazzling rich metallic bronze
  11. Clay – natural toasted taupe

The best part about this new range is that the lacquers are formulated without the 3 major toxic chemicals, toluene, DBP and formaldehyde. And to remove the polishes, there are the convenient, soy-based Nail Polish Remover Wipes as well. These come in boxes of 8 individually wrapped wipes, so they’re good for 8 uses (or more, if you don’t need an entire wipe each time), and are perfect for travelling!
