How are my gorgeous kitties doing today? I’m quite excited to be sharing with you my experience at Le Jean Hair & Beauty Salon, where I got my first ombre hair style done!
I booked an appointment via Vanitee.com, which is an online portal of local businesses that cater to hair and beauty needs. Just scrolling through the listed businesses, all of which whose legitimacy had been personally ensured by the team at Vanitee.com, I picked Le Jean Hair & Beauty Salon because frankly speaking, I got tired of my hair yet again. So I decided on a date and time that was convenient for me and in a couple of days, I made my way to the salon at Far East Plaza, Singapore.
Once I got there, I presented my confirmation SMS to the very welcoming lady at the counter and saw that they had already recorded my appointment down in their log book. They were prepared for my arrival! I got ushered to my seat and met two guys, Marcus and Sham, who were the ones who did my hair for the next 6 hours. After a brief discussion with Marcus on what I wanted and what they were able to do for me based on my hair condition and past hair jobs, they got to work!
The first thing they did was to retouch my roots. As I’ve got a sensitive scalp, they applied a scalp protector first.
My hair had never been bleached before this. So in order to get the effect that I wanted, or anywhere close to that, it needed to be bleached more than once. Marcus wasn’t sure if my hair could take it, so we decided to see how far we could go before selecting a good colour for me. All I knew was that I wanted to go as light as possible, and they were going to try their best to give me just that.
I looked like a golden lion after the first round of bleaching. I wasn’t used to that at all but I knew it was expected. As my hair was still doing fine, we went ahead with the second round of bleaching! Here’s what my hair looked like after that:
Now that we’d seen my hair after bleaching, it was time to pick a suitable shade of dye to use. I didn’t want something that would end up yellowish or reddish, so we picked something more ashy for the final look. I love the outcome!
I loved what they did for my hair! It wasn’t as light as I originally wanted it to be, but it was the lightest we could go for the day. As my hair was dry after the two rounds of bleaching, I got a mini hair treatment right after too.
The atmosphere in the salon was friendly, warm and very familial. I felt like everyone was treated like family there, and the owner, Jean, even bought me some year cake as she was afraid I would be hungry. I was also asked every now and then if I wanted something to eat or drink, and someone offered me biscuits. While I was there that afternoon, I saw longtime customers who were addressed by their first names, as well as walk-in customers who just wanted a cut.
Marcus and Sham were both very patient, humble and hard working. I mean, 6 hours without taking a real break is very tiring! Throughout my time there, they also discussed with each other the best way to go about doing my hair. As a teacher, I can tell you that collaborative learning and practical application are a couple of the best ways to acquire a skill and these two were really going at it.
Seeing that the Chinese New Year period is upon us, I do recommend you book your appointment with Le Jean Hair & Beauty Salon.
