Last Sunday made for a wonderful opportunity for a little mother-and-daughter time at a nail salon, Bellis Nail. We were invited by Ling, the owner of the salon, to try out their manicure and pedicure services and I took the chance to finally try out the popular ombre nails trend. The salon is located just opposite I12 Katong Mall (Singapore) and is easy to find. It is also a pretty new one, having just opened for business last month.

Rows and rows of OPI lacquers.

Gelish polishes specially brought in from Hong Kong.

This is the section where you can get your manicure, pedicure and waxing done!

A cosy little corner where you can sit and chat with a friend or two while you wait, either for another friend or to pick a design, for example.

There’s something nostalgic in every little corner, something that oozes that 60s appeal.

    A little chinoise lamp.

If you’d like, you can choose to lie down while you get your manicure done! How relaxing!

The interior is pretty cosy and relaxing, with an overall exotic Asian feel. I especially loved the concept of allowing customers to nap while we get our nails done, though it’s only for those of us who are having a manicure. As for a pedicure, you’ll start with a foot soak and a scrub using a unique natural rose (or lavender) and rice scrub.

The nice-smelling rose and rice scrub.

A Bellis Nail babe exfoliates away the dead skin on my mother’s feet and then gives her a leg scrub.

I tried the foot scrub too, after which some moisturiser was applied. My skin (and my mother’s) turned from rough to super smooth! We were both really surprised at what a nice foot soak and scrub could do; Almost all our callouses were gone! Wow.

Of course, nothing could beat the gelish manicure that I did! It took an entire two hours and a whole lot of layering and precise adding of crystals. But the effort was well worth it. I picked the colours, Bellis Nail did everything else.

    Taken at the salon.

My thumbs! If you realise, the crystals are placed differently on each hand. Also, the crystals may not look sparkly enough, because there’s cuticle oil over them.

This was taken a couple of days later, under the evening sun. The crystals were still intact, and there was no chipping of the polish.
