Diorskin Forever Compact Foundation

    The navy blue velvet pouch.

    The beautiful compact!

    Open sesame!

I’m in love with this foundation. If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that once I returned to Singapore and changed my daily facial cleanser, my skin reverted to being sensitive to alcohol. This means that I can no longer use Dior’s Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Hydrating Makeup Liquid Foundation. I had to look for an alternative and coincidentally, Dior had just launched its Diorskin Forever Compact Foundation so I decided to give it a try. I went to the Dior counter in Takashimaya Singapore (read my experience with the really professional sales assistant here) and brought home a sample of the foundation. I loved the foundation so much that I used up the entire sample and went to get a brand new compact after that.

The compact comes with a mirror and a sponge and costs S$90. I’m not sure if refills are currently available in Singapore at the moment and if they’re not, they should be here next year. The refills will cost about S$60 and they include the sponge applicator. (Just a note: Dior doesn’t sell sponges individually.) I love the fact that there are two different textures on the sponge. One side is velvety while the other is more like a normal sponge, albeit very smooth, like the ones you can get from Shu Uemura. Applying the compact foundation using the sponge-y side gives more coverage, while using the velvety side will give off a more luminous finish. I tried putting on the foundation using the two sides and I can’t decide which one I prefer. On days when I have a little more redness, I use the sponge-y side and on days when I feel like having a more radiant complexion, I use the velvety side (the feel is amazing). However, there are also days when I use my EcoTools Retractable Kabuki Brush to apply my foundation.

The foundation itself is lovely as well. I’m using Shade 020 Light Beige (the same one as Natalie Portman), the same shade as my previous bottle of Nude.  It’s very blendable and goes on smoothly. It also doesn’t break me out at all, which is why I got myself the very expensive compact. The powder contains a Skincare Essence so your skin gets the hydration and mattifying effects while you have it on. I get a visibly even-toned, natural-looking complexion with this product; There’s nothing cake-y nor ashy about it. With SPF 25 PA ++, you can stay sun-safe for some time too! However, if you do blot now and then, you’ll need to touch up. At the end of the day, the foundation is easily removed with my Shu Uemura oil cleanser.

The compact is of a unique blue. The surface is of reflective plastic which when touched, will retain your fingerprints. Maybe that’s why it comes with a pouch. Oh, how luxe! The compact is definitely quality for money and if you have some to invest in good makeup, I highly recommend this.
