Review: Pangea Organics’ Lip Balm

by Roxanne C.

Gluten-free ecocentric lipcare.

Featuring Egyptian fennel with grapefruit and sweet orange.

This lip balm is now a staple on my bedside table. It’s a product from Pangea Organics, made from pure, organic ingredients and contains no petroleum, synthetic preservatives, sulfates, artificial colours and fragrances. This is what the company says about the lip balm on their website:

“It features deep-moisturizing, organic oils that offer tremendous staying power without that unwanted waxy feel. Nourishing and protecting, our lip balms have high bioavailability (easy for the body to use), absorb well into the skin and are long-lasting. Rich in vitamins, nutrients and essential fatty acids, each lip balm contains powerful healing properties that are good for you, good for your lips.”

I can’t agree more. I’ve tried so many types of lip balms, such as Nivea (also known as Labello in Europe), Burt’s Bees, Lip Ice and more but none of them have worked as well as this one from Pangea Organics. The one I have is named Egyptian fennel, grapefruit and sweet orange. There are two other flavours: Italian Red Mandarin with Rose and Pyrenees Lavendar with Cardamom. Grapefruit is an antioxidant while sweet orange is vitamin-rich and helps to soothe lips.

The lip balm does not dry out my lips like some balms do (how ironic) after some time. You know, the kinds that cause your lips to flake and peel off some hours later? This one does nothing of the sort. It’s staying power is impressive. I apply this right before I go to bed and some of it is still there when I wake up in the morning! The balm itself is colourless, non-sticky, goes on very well and also has a citrusy, refreshing scent, which makes applying it a pleasure. It ventures close to being a jumbo chapstick but it’s nothing too big. It doesn’t have SPF so I alternate it with my Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20 Lip Balm, which I use in the day and which is also my day lip balm holy grail.

My final verdict of this balm is that everyone should own one.
