The Jane Iredale lip products.

I’m so excited to talk about these lip products from Jane Iredale! If baby elephants could talk, they’d say the same thing too! Because not only is Jane Iredale cruelty-free, the mineral products in this entry also deliver results, better than I’d expected. Today, we’re taking a look at the Jane Iredale Lip Drink and the Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain (in Forever Pink).

These two were samples given in my July 2013 Vanity Trove, one of the best troves I’ve received so far (because it came with makeup and makeup removers). The packaging of the full-sized products are very similar, even in colour, and are just larger. Now let’s start with the Lip Drink!

Jane Iredale Lip Drink

The Jane Iredale Lip Drink up close and personal.

The Jane Iredale Lip Drink contains SPF 15 with UVA P++ protection. It does not have petroleum, and so it never dries out the lips as it wears off, unlike many petroleum-based lip products out there. On a side note, you’ll be surprised just how many lip balms contain petroleum! With this lip balm, my lips feel moisturised for a far longer time as compared to when I use other lip balms. It doesn’t have a shiny, glossy finish, and the packaging is more on the unisex side, so I think it would be a great lip balm even for guys. It’s gluten-free and vegan, and contains quite many beneficial ingredients (the information below is taken from the Jane Iredale website):

1) Carrot seed oil to soften lips;

2) Avocado oil to protect and moisturise;

3) Antioxidants coffee seed, blackberry and green tea leaf extracts and

4) Lemon peel.

Of course, how can anyone forget that lemon in the balm! One of the first things I noticed about this balm was the lemon scent, which I really liked! In an instant, you’ll feel refreshed and energised, while your lips get hydrated and protected from the sun. As Barney would say, yummy yummy veggies!

The Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain is another love. It smells of strawberries and even looks like it has strawberry bits in it:

This stain is one of the brand’s best selling mineral products and it’s easy to see why. Not only is it moisturising, it is also long lasting. I applied this overnight and woke up to still-there pink puckers – and nothing on my pillow. The colour takes a few minutes to show up and it doesn’t come off as easily as lipstick or gloss. The pink is not sheer and may be a little too bright for some who prefer muted shades. The beneficial ingredients include (the information below is taken from the Jane IredaleĀ website):

1) Olive butter, avocado butter and wild rose wax for a soothing effect;

2) Rose flower wax and beeswax to nourish lips.

A quick check with the ingredient list on the website revealed pumpkin seed oil and jojoba as well. This balm is not as hydrating as the Lip Drink, and it also does not contain SPF, so I do recommend the Lip Drink first, and then layered over with the stain. I will definitely purchase the Jane Iredale Lip Drink when my sample runs out, so thank you Vanity Trove for the pleasant introduction!

What about you? Do you have any Jane Iredale products to recommend?
