When I was younger, my Saturday nights were filled with Hong Kong movies on TV. My favourite actresses looked beautiful, that goes without saying, but the one thing that struck me most was the head full of hair they all had. Take for example Zhou Xun and Zhao Wei in Painted Skin. Which other Asian girl has hair like that? The answer is none.
So when Irresistible Me contacted me to ask if I wanted to give their hair extensions a try, I decided to take the plunge. After all, these were clip-in extensions, not the kind where you’ll need a salon visit to have.
I looked through Irresistible Me’s website and found a video showing the different shades of extensions they have.
For an American firm to have such a wide variety of shades is impressive. I picked the third darkest shade (Royal Chocolate Brown), as my hair isn’t completely black and it looks really brown (and sometimes purple) under sunlight. I then decided on a suitable length, and in a couple of weeks, the little black box arrived at my doorstep.

I loved how there was a tiny sample packed in a separate compartment. This allowed me to test and see if the shade and hair length was what I needed. In the case where it didn’t fit, or where I’d have liked something else, I could then put this back and send the entire box back to Irresistible Me for an exchange. How thoughtful of them!

I tried the 100% human hair extensions on my own day-old hair, to emphasise the difference they make. The pack that Irresistible Me had sent me contained extensions of different widths, so I had flexibility of clipping them in in various parts of my head. To achieve the look above, I clipped the largest piece at the back and 4 other smaller pieces on the sides (2 on each side). The 16″ length that I requested for was just nice for my own hair, so nothing looked weirdly short or out of place.
I’m so glad Irresistible Me and I found each other and I wish my hair looked like this all the time. Of course that’s not going to happen anytime soon, and in any case the opposite might even come true. But one thing’s for sure: I’m definitely keeping my precious extensions and putting them on for special occasions!
