On Rotation: My Signature Fragrances

Signature Fragrances on The Skinny Scout

There is something to be said about good signature fragrances. Not everyone identifies with the same type of scent, not even the same brands. Some like it subtler than others, some prefer a citrus perfume. For most of us, we have not just one signature fragrance, but a few that we turn to depending on our mood and occasion.

These 6 are mine.

Coco Mademoiselle on The Skinny Scout
The Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum – my all-time signature scent.

CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE EAU DE PARFUM

If there’s one fragrance I will forever have in my stash, it is the Coco Mademoiselle, either in the Eau de Parfum or Eau de Toilette form. This fragrance has been my staple ever since I was a new university graduate, and it’s the one scent that gives me what Sali Hughes calls my “backbone.”
It boosts my confidence level no matter whenever I have it on, and for whatever occasion, be it having to handle a tough work day, an important meeting, or just needing to exude my utmost glamorous/elegant self at an event appearance.

HUGO BOSS MA VIE EAU DE PARFUM

How can you not fall in love with its sleek, pink-and-gold bottle with the curvy cap? This scent is light and girly. I spritz this on whenever I feel like I need some nice scent but something that isn’t typically “me.” It’s the kind of fragrance you’d wear when you want people to do a double take and think, “Wait a minute, she smells a special kind of different.”

Miss Dior on The Skinny Scout
Dior Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet Eau de Toilette

DIOR MISS DIOR BLOOMING BOUQUET EAU DE TOILETTE

This is one of my favourite scents ever, because it smells so girly but not overly sweet. The bottle is super pretty, what with that silver bow on top. So totally Dior. I wear this whenever I don’t need to be in top form – so basically any time I feel slightly flirty and just want to skip around in a fluffy pink dress with pastel balloons.

DIOR SOUFFLE DE SOIE

I couldn’t stop myself from bagging this at Galeries Lafayette because it was one of the first boutiques in the world carrying the new exclusive Christian Dior Paris range of fragrances. The bottle looks so sleek, simple and again, so Dior.
According to François Demachy, “Personally, I see this perfume as a profusion of vivid flowers on a silk scarf. Like a delicate breeze, a bouquet of jasmine, rose and tuberose delivers a sensual message, like a whisper on the skin, or a kiss at the nape of the neck.”
I couldn’t have described it better.

Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum on The Skinny Scout
Tiffany & Co Eau de Parfum – complete with its signature hue.

TIFFANY & CO EAU DE PARFUM

One of the latest additions to my fragrance collection – and I use this almost every day now. It’s light and refreshing, and I’ve gotten so used to the smell that I don’t detect it anymore when I have it on. Plus, it looks so good on my dresser! Oh, the little luxuries in life.
I blogged about this when I bought it as part of a limited edition set at Shilla Duty Free, and you can check out more snaps of it HERE.

MARC JACOBS MOD NOIR EAU DE PARFUM

It seems that this fragrance is now quite hard to find, and it might even be discontinued. What a pity!
I wear this on days when I want something stronger and sweeter than usual, which isn’t that many days in Singapore’s crazy weather. But on days when I really need that extra energy boost, I almost always reach out for this.
