A tube of promise and hope.

Soap & Glory is a body care brand hailing from the UK and has been a popular choice for many girls like me looking for products that pamper our bodies. Under the brand’s firming range is Slimwear, a gel that helps to tone and firm up areas such as the thighs. Does it work? For those of you who don’t want to read the rest of this entry, I’ll give a resounding yes!

I am in love with this product that I got from Sephora Singapore. I use this once daily on my thighs after my evening shower (when the skin is still soft and slightly damp) because that’s when the skin absorbs products best. It has definitely helped to tone up my thighs, as well as reduce the appearance of cellulite. I could show you some pictures, but I’m not sure a bikini picture of me here would be very apt, seeing that people aren’t usually open to seeing their children’s teachers half naked online. It works better than Nivea’s Goodbye Cellulite Serum and the results are more obvious.

After application, the gel gives a refreshing, minty feel on the skin. You may think that that’s when the product is working, but I wouldn’t bet on it. I’m not sure how long it took for the effectiveness to be seen, but I’m almost at the end of my first tube so I suggest using it till the end and then doing a before-and-after comparison. What I like more about Soap & Glory is that it’s cruelty-free so in a way, it’s beauty with a conscience.

I found this amusing and it did speak out to me.

Only very picky people! I must say I’m one of those!

The brand supports FRAME, an organisation known as the Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments. As a chemist myself, I firmly believe that testing products for toxicity beforehand is very important (because otherwise they would be too dangerous to use) and if animals can be replaced, then by all means they should.

Before we get too deep in the touchy touchy topic of animal testing, perhaps the most interesting part about Slimwear is its colour. It’s minty green! The colour doesn’t show up when the gel is applied, of course. Maybe it’s what helps us connect to the minty feel after several minutes.

Some mint for your thighs, m’am?

It’s a fun product to use and it’s something that works. In addition, it’s not expensive and a tube can last for months. Would I recommend this? Well, until I find something that works better, definitely.
